Asian Hospital will also be holding a de-stressing / de cluttering lecture the same day as Shifting gears with Shift work for those interested. |

In my few years as a physician, I have already noticed that those who have work in shifts, particularly those confined to the graveyard shift, have numerous health issues, weight gain among them. This could be due to many things, stress being the key ingredient in the mix. Asian Hospital and Medical Center Department of Occupational and Family Medicine is holding a free forum dealing with work stress and health issues among those with work in shifts ... and how to deal with them. Below is a flyer. Feel free to attend if this is relevant to your weight wellness and general wellbeing. Cheers! |

Depende sa tao, kc hindi lahat ng stress ay maganang kumain, mas madalas ngang wlang ganang kumain pag stress ang katawan mo. |

Stress can either slow down or increase your metabolism. If you are a stress eater, most probably it will cause you to gain excess weight. On the other hand, if stress causes a decrease in your appetite and you don't feel like eating, it will definitely make you lose weight. BUT... you should be aware that when time comes that you feel like eating again at your normal pace, the weight you've lost might cause you to gain 2-3 times more since your metabolism has already slow down during the time you are stressed. Unfortunately, your metabolism does not immediately adjust to go faster when there's already food available. Here's the deal, when stressed, don't resort to food to feel good. Have someone to accompany you on a walk. Eat with a friend. If you must, eat dark chocolates to release your happy hormone. Go to a spa and have a massage to relax.

i guess it depends noh? some people kasi get super thin when they're stressed kasi hindi sila makakain. mayroon namang ibang tao na sobra sobra naman ang kinakain kapag stressed at iba rin yung body type and metabolic rate. :) |

yes it can be both..we could lose or gain weight but it depends on the person's body metabolism i think.. |

I think it can go both ways. In terms of eating habits, I know people who eat when they stressed. They snack on junk food while working/studying and get home and eat a lot of comfort food to make them feel better about the stress. But I also know people, myself included, who lose weight from stress. When I'm swamped with work or stressed about personal relationships or problems, I tend to forget meals and increase my exercise to release the endorphins. It's not a healthy way to lose weight though. You lack energy and you're always in a bad mood. The trick is to just be conscious of what you put in your mouth when you're stressed out. If you need to snack, opt for something healthy like fruit or nuts or yogurt. Hope this helps you :o) |

It depends on what is stressing you...but nowadays stress is a big contributory to all sicknesses. Also, stress will just make you look losyang so why would you stress yourself too much...life is soooo good to even worry about stuff...instead be thankful and be happy with what you have and with whom you are sharing it with... |
